Wallingford Swim and Racquet Club – Rules 

The rules set forth on the following pages are for the protection and safety of the members.  Please be advised that the lifeguards are present to watch over you while you are in the pool and surrounding pool areas.  The guards have been asked to uphold these rules for the safety of the members.  The Board wants the pool to be a safe place for everyone to come and swim.  Additionally the Board requests the cooperation of all parents and guardians in overseeing these rules.

Section I – Pool Hours

  1. The pool will be open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
  2. For specific pool hours see the calendar provided on the website or Facebook page.
  3. The pool will be closed for general participation during scheduled social activities sanctioned by the pool.
  4. The pool may be closed as necessary for inclement weather, maintenance purposes, or at any time deemed necessary by management or the lifeguards for health or safety reasons.
  5. Unauthorized entrance to the pool area or buildings during off-hours (is considered trespassing and subject to prosecution). Suspension of privileges for a length of time to be determined by the Board and managers is possible.

Section II – Guest privileges

  1. Guest fees are $10.00 per person.  A maximum of ten guests is allowed in a given day per bondholder (See Section III for larger groups).(Children 2 and under and adults not swimming do not require a guest pass.)
  2. Guest passes are available for pick up and purchase at the front desk only. 
  3. All members entertaining guest must register themselves and their guest before entering the pool grounds.
  4. All guests 10 and under must pass a basic pool test and obtain and wristband  before using the L pool.
  5. Members may bring the same guest a maximum of three time per year.
  6. Members shall assume responsibility for the conduct of their guests and will be liable for any damage their guest(s) may incur.
  7. All members and their guests should familiarize themselves with the pool rules.  A copy of the pool rules will be made available in the manager’s office.

Section III – Pool Rental

  • A bondholder, who shall be responsible for the conduct of the persons attending the activity, must sponsor all parties/activities.
  • Fees for parties shall include the services of lifeguards, even if swimming is not the primary purpose of the party.  For the costs associated with the parties see the Pool Manager.
  • Private parties Glass of any type is strictly prohibited due to safety factors.

 

Section IV – Safety

For the purpose of this section, a responsible person is defined as someone who can pay close attention to (children and) the responsibilities entrusted to him/her regarding all aspects of safety.  Lifeguards will not act as babysitters.

  1. Swimming is only permitted during hours of operation and under a lifeguard’s supervision.
  2. The lifeguards shall be in complete authority at all times.  Disregard of lifeguard’s instructions by anyone may be cause for (immediate removal from the pool) and/or suspension of the bondholder.
  3. At no time shall a member or guest reprimand a lifeguard.  All complaints or suggestions shall be brought to the pool manager.
  4. Children in the baby pool must be under the direct supervision of a responsible person who is at least 13 years of age.
  5. The baby pool is for use of children under 6 years of age.
  6. Children 10 and under who have passed the basic pool test are required to wear a WSRC wristband in the L pool at all times.  Lost wristbands will cost $1.00 to replace.
  7. Children who have not passed their pool test must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the L pool
  8. Absolutely no diving from the pool deck at any point except in the diving well.
  9. No running, pushing, dunking, splashing or other undue disturbances will be permitted in the pool area.
  10. Members 13 years and older may come unattended to the pool.  Proper behavior must be upheld or this privilege will be suspended or terminated.
  11. Flotation devices are permitted in the Turtle pool.  Rafts are permitted in the L pool only on raft night.  No other flotation devices are permitted in the L pool at any time.
  12. No glass containers of any type shall be permitted at the pool.
  13. No pets are permitted within the pool enclosure at any time.
  14. All disciplinary actions are at the manager and/or guard’s discretion.
  15. Abusive/offensive language will not be tolerated and will be grounds for membership suspension.
  16. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on pool grounds.
  17. No alcoholic beverages or intoxicated person(s) shall be allowed at the pool.
  18. All personal injuries, regardless of how slight, must be reported to the pool office immediately and a record made of the same.
  19. All persons use the pool at their own risk.  The club is not responsible for accidents or injuries. 
  20. No skateboarding or roller-skating shall be permitted on pool property or in the pool parking lot. 

Section V – Health

  1. Any person having obvious communicable disease (skin eruption, fungus, infection, eye, nose or throat infection) may not use the pool
  2. No soap, towels or bandages are allowed in the pool.
  3. Sick children may be requested to leave the pool.
  4. Trash must be deposited in receptacles provided.
  5. Children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers. Cloth or disposable diapers are not to be worn in any pool. 

Section VI – General

  1. Members are required to scan their membership FOB upon entering the pool.  
  2. The lifeguards are in charge at all times.  They will have complete authority to enforce the rules and limit the activities of anyone disturbing the safety and/or enjoyment of others at the pool.
  3. Members and guests under 13 must be accompanied by a member 13 years and older. 
  4. Lost and found articles will be turned in at the office.  The club assumes no responsibility for the loss or damage of personal property.
  5. Personal clothing, towels, or bathing suits shall not be left in the changing house overnight.
  6. Failure to comply with the Rules shall be cause for suspension or expulsion from the pool.
  7. Managers will address any questions as to interpretation of the Pool Rules.
  8. The provisions of the Pennsylvania State Board of Health take precedence over any and all of these rules.

Section VII – Parking

  1. With parking at a premium on very busy days, please be mindful of where and how you leave your vehicle.    
  2. The asphalt drive leading to the back gate must be clear of vehicles so that emergency vehicles have easy access to the pool
  3. Please park either in the parking lot or on the grass (as necessary) ONLY.
